100-year-old commits suicide

A centenarian committed suicide by jumping into the Mandovi river here, police said on Tuesday.

Shreeram Sagun Naik, who celebrated his 100th birthday two months back, took the extreme step on Monday after being fed with his prolonged illness. Naik was living at Britona, a village across the river with his son and preliminary investigations have ruled out any ill treatment of Naik by his family members, police said.
