Claims her family was planning to kill her and "create another hungama" in order to "get money from political leaders".

A day after >doing a complete U-turn from her charges of gang rape and forcible conversion into Islam, the Meerut girl alleged on Monday that her family was planning to kill her and “create another hungama” in order to “get money from political leaders”.

She also alleged that she was forced to change her statement, and said she would now tell the “truth” in court.

Her father, however, rejected the charges, and said his daughter was under pressure from a Muslim man who had helped her run away from her house at Sarava village.

Importantly, the girl refused to see her parents who tried to meet her at the government shelter house for women in Meerut on Monday. Meanwhile, taking into account her complaint of threat to life, the Kharkhoda police station has filed a case of non-cognisable offence against her family.

The police have arrested the man she claimed she had run away with of her own free will. The charge sheet has been filed and the trial will start soon.

The residents of Sarava on Monday decided to boycott the girl’s family, accusing them of hiding information about the entire episode from them.

The State BJP chief, Lakshmi Kant Bajpai, alleged that the case was being influenced by the ruling Samajwadi Party and demanded a CBI inquiry. The SP spokesperson, Rajendra Chaudhary, however, charged the BJP with “dividing” society by “politicising” human emotions.
