Police in the Canadian province of New Brunswick early Friday arrested a 24-year-old man they suspect of shooting dead three officers and wounding two, officials informed.
The search for Justin Bourque paralysed Monckton, a city of 70,000 people, on Thursday. The background to the shootings was not immediately clear.
Government offices, schools, libraries and the zoo were all closed on Thursday.

The population had been told to stay indoors with the doors locked.
