A top medical official in Sierra Leone said a fourth doctor has died of Ebola in the country after a failed bid to transfer her abroad for treatment.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Brima Kargbo confirmed to The Associated Press on Sunday that Dr. Olivet Buck has died.

Sierra Leone had requested funds from the World Health Organization (WHO) to evacuate the doctor to Germany on Friday.

WHO said on Saturday that it could not meet the request but instead would work to give Dr. Buck “the best care possible” in Sierra Leone, including access to experimental drugs.
