2 Indian guards shot dead in Kuwait robbery attack

Two Indian security guards have been shot dead by masked robbers armed with AK-47 rifles before escaping with USD 46238.

Muhammad Rashid Jamalullaili Thangal and Sharangadharan were attacked by the assailants on Saturday as they were walking towards their security van after collecting money from a supermarket to be deposited at a bank.

The masked gunmen, reportedly three in number fired at them at close range and escaped with the chest containing USD 46238.

Sharangdharan was shot in the chest and died on the spot while Rashid was shot in the head and succumbed to his injuries at a hospital,

Kuwait Times reported.

Both the victims hailed from Kerala and were working as security personnel with a leading private security company in Kuwait.

Their bodies have been sent for forensic examination.

Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Sunil Jain said the embassy is in touch with the Interior Ministry over the shocking incident.

“We will do all what is required in coordination with the Kuwaiti authorities,” he said.
