U.K., France vow to increase pressure on Qadhafi

Mr. Cameron’s office said on Saturday the two leaders remained determined to enforce the U.N. resolution on Libya, and their priority will be "to increase the pressure militarily, politically and economically" to isolate Col. Qadhafi’s regime.

The British government says Prime Minister David Cameron and French President Nicolas Sarkozy have vowed to increase the pressure on Libyan leader Muammar Qadhafi’s regime.

Mr. Cameron’s office said on Saturday the two leaders remained determined to enforce the U.N. resolution on Libya, and their priority will be “to increase the pressure militarily, politically and economically” to isolate Col. Qadhafi’s regime.

Mr. Cameron and Mr. Sarkozy had a phone conversation on Friday as the military campaign to protect Libyan civilians reached the end of its seventh week and after members from the 22—nation Contact Group on Libya met in Rome to better coordinate assistance to rebels seeking Col. Qadhafi’s ouster.
