Two policemen were killed and at least 20 people injured on Sunday in a suicide bombing of a bus in eastern Kabul for which the Taliban claimed responsibility.
“The bomber was riding a bicycle and blew himself up next to the bus carrying police officers home,” said Hashmat Stanikzai, Kabul police spokesman.
A police trainer and cadet were killed, he said. Three children were among the injured, but the exact number of civilians injured was not clear.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Majahid claimed more than 30 police officers were on the bus and all were killed or injured.
In December, three soldiers were killed and eight civilians injured in a bombing on a NATO convoy in the same area.
In the northern province of Kunduz, two people were killed on Sunday and three injured when a mortar shell landed on their house.

Two groups of Mujahideen fighters, who fought to drive the Soviets out of Afghanistan in the 1980s, were clashing in the Khan Abad district, and one of those group fired the mortar, which injured three other members of the same family, said Sayed Sarwar Hussaini, Kunduz police spokesman.
