The special court trying former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf for high treason will pass orders on May 8 on the application moved by the defence to demand the report on the inquiry conducted by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the addition of the names of abettors to the trial.
On Monday, the defence counsel Dr Farogh Naseem withdrew two pending applications relating to some amendments in the statute pertaining to the framing of charges, among other things. Dr Naseem then said he would first wait to hear the verdict on the inquiry report and then decide to move the applications once again.
The special court in its order said that Dr Naseem sought conditional withdrawal of two applications, and allowed him to do so with a clear stipulation that in case an application is later moved of a similar nature, the court would consider it on merit. Special public prosecutor Akram Sheikh opposed this conditional withdrawal of applications.
