A Dhaka court on Monday ordered police to investigate a case against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and three other top party leaders for allegedly killing 42 people during the nearly four week-long violent anti-government agitation.
The complainant, A.B. Siddique, president of a pro-ruling party organisation, has complained to Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate that the former Prime Minister masterminded the brutal killings while the other three instigated the violent incidents.
Monday’s case is in addition to the earlier two cases filed by the police against Ms. Khaleda Zia for ordering the violence.

While over 800 public vehicles have been set on fire using fire bombs, the indefinite transport blockade that entered its 28th day on Monday has already caused more than 40 deaths, mostly in arson attacks.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took a serious note of leaked audio clips involving Ms. Khaleda Zia, where she was heard instructing party leaders to unleash violence on the streets.
