Syria opposes any foreign intervention in Libya

The Syrian Foreign Ministry statement comes as Western countries debate whether to protect the rebels from Libyan leader Moammar Qadhafi?s air force by putting a no?fly zone over some or all of the country.

Syria has close relations with Libya. Damascus has been relatively quiet regarding uprisings in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya and has prevented demonstrations near those countries? embassies in Syria.
