Plane crash at Cork Airport; eight deaths reported

Irish broadcaster RTE reported that eight people have died. The Irish Aviation Authority cautioned that emergency personnel have yet to confirm the number of dead or injured.

Irish authorities say a small commuter aircraft has overturned and caught fire on the Cork Airport runway and several people have been killed.

The aircraft operated by Isle of Man—based regional carrier Manx2 was travelling on Thursday from Belfast, Northern Ireland, to the south-western city of Cork. Witnesses say the turboprop aircraft had made several attempts to land in foggy conditions.
