An Indian was among the 20 persons killed in Friday night's terror attack at a restaurant in Dhaka's Gulshan area.
One of the persons killed is an Indian national, identified as Tarishi Jain, an official told The Hindu . "She is an young Indian girl." However, the police is yet to disclose any details.
“Tarushi Jain was an 18 year old student at UC Berkeley who was on vacation in Dhaka. Her father runs a garment business in Bangladesh for the last 15-20 years. We are assisting family members who are travelling to Bangladesh. Also it is learnt that one Indian, Dr Satyapal was among one of those rescued today morning,” said a source, after External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj took to Twitter to announce that she has been in touch with the family extending necessary support.

“I have spoken to her father Shri Sanjeev Jain and conveyed our deepest condolences. The country is with them in this hour of grief,” Ms. Swaraj tweeted.
“As per latest information, 20 reportedly killed including 8 Italians, some Japanese and South Koreans, and 1 Indian and some Bangladeshi nationals. 8 people rescued in the morning including 7 Bangladeshis and 1 Indian. 3-4 in hospital undergoing treatment including 2 Sri Lankans, a Japanese and an Italian. 10-12 Bangladeshi staff of the bakery also rescued in the morning and have been segregated for interrogation. 6 terrorists killed and 1 apprehended yesterday night. 3 people escaped including an Italian and Japanese when the attack started,” the official source confirmed to the media.
The targeted restaurant popular with foreigners in Dhaka is located close to the Indian High Commission.

Brig. Gen Ashfaq Chaudhry of Inter Services Public Relations Directorate Bangladesh held a press conference earlier on Saturday and announced that at the end of the joint operation by the security agencies, 2 senior police officials were killed and at least thirty were injured.
“We have recovered a wireless communication set, folded butt AK 22 rifle, an unexploded improvised explosive device and several sharp weapons,” Brig. Gen. Chaudhry said.
The mortal remains of the victims have been sent to a military hospital in Dhaka, announced Mr Chaudhry in a press conference and Bangladeshi authorities are yet to announce details of the nationality of the victims.
Earlier, congratulating the security forces for the “successful operation”, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the militants responsible for the terror attack were either killed or arrested.
“We have managed to rescue 13 persons who were taken hostage. We could not save a few of them [who were in the restaurant]. Some of them are admitted at CMH [Combined Military Hospital],” the Prime Minister said.
“I would like to congratulate the first Para-Commando Battalion along with army, navy, police, RAB [Rapid Actiona Battalion], BGB [Border Security Guard], air force and all,” she said.
“It was a matter of relief that within 10 hours we have managed to wrap it up. We have quickly launched the operation and got over with it.”
