Intelligence officials say a suspected U.S. drone fired two missiles at a compound in Pakistan’s volatile tribal area near the Afghan border, killing four people.

The officials say Tuesday’s strike occurred in an area of North Waziristan dominated by the Haqqani network, an Afghan Taliban faction with close ties to al-Qaida.

The officials said the compound was located in the Deegan area of North Waziristan, some 18 miles (30 kilometers) west of Miranshah and 12 miles (20 kilometers) south of the Afghan border.
