A man of Indian origin, Gurukanth Desai (28) from Cardiff, was among nine British Asians charged with terror-related offences on Monday including one of conspiracy to cause explosions "of a nature likely to endanger life or cause serious injury to property" between October 1 and November 20 this year.
They were arrested with three others last week in a series of nationwide counter-terror raids.
The men, mostly of Bangladeshi and Pakistani origin, were remanded in custody until January 14.

Besides Desai, others were identified as Mohammed Moksudur Rahman Chowdhury (20), Shah Mohammed Lutfar Rahman (28), Omar Sharif Latif ( 26), Abdul Malik Miah (24), Nazam Hussain (25), Usman Khan (19), Mohibur Rahman ( 26) and Abul Bosher Mohammed Shahjahan (26).
The prosecution accused them of downloading and researching materials and methods, carrying out reconnaissance and agreeing potential targets, and igniting and testing incendiary material.
Three others arrested at the same time were released without any charge. The arrests which followed raids on properties in London, Cardiff and Stoke-on-Trent, an English mining city, were described as part of a "significant" plot but were not linked to the recent suicide bombing in the Swedish capital Stockholm by an Iraqi-born man who had lived in Britain.

Nor were they related to warnings that Al-Qaeda was planning a Mumbai-style attack in Europe.
