Mortar hits Somalia presidential palace, kills four Ugandans

A military spokesman in Somalia says a mortar has hit the presidential palace, killing four Ugandan peacekeepers.

The mortar hit the palace during the eighth straight day of fighting in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu. At least 10 people, including the four Ugandan troops, were killed on Monday.

A spokesman for the African Union, Maj. Barigye Bahoku told The Associated Press that four Ugandan peacekeepers were killed when a mortar slammed into the presidential palace. Maj. Bahoku said eight others were also wounded in the attack.

It wasn’t immediately known if any Somali political leaders were wounded or killed in the attack.
