State media says a coal mine flood in south-western China has killed 12 people, adding more casualties to the thousands killed each year in mining accidents.
The official Xinhua News Agency reported on Thursday that 50 miners were working at the Dapo mine in Anshun city in Guizhou province when it flooded on Wednesday morning, killing 12 miners.
Thirty—eight people, including the mine’s managers, managed to escape, the report said. The cause of the flooding is still under investigation.
