G8 vows joint action against terrorism

June 27, 2010 01:57 am | Updated November 09, 2016 06:50 pm IST - TORONTO:

G8 leaders on Saturday pledged to work together in an “integrated and coordinated” manner to combat the threat posed by terrorism and attack violent extremism at its roots.

“Terrorism threatens people everywhere and undermines peace, stability and security. All acts of terrorism are criminal, inhumane, and unjustifiable irrespective of motivation,” the Group of Eight leaders said.

Given the complex nature of the terrorist threat, an integrated and coordinated G8 response is essential to meeting this challenge, they said.
