In a separate incident, unknown miscreants blew up an eight-inch gas pipeline in the Dera Bugti area leading to gas supply being affected in the province.

Security officials said the pipeline was damaged after militants planted an improvised explosive device near the gas pipelines, which went off with a large explosion.

Repair work could not start as security personnel cordoned off the area to provide security to the workers.

“Repair work will be started once the area is cleared by security personnel,” the officials said.

Militants have conducted attacks against security forces and national installations in Balochistan, which has been plagued by an insurgency and growing sectarian killings for more than a decade.
