Yoga programme for medicos launched

So, the next time medicos feel stressed they can skip that trip to the canteen, and instead attend a yoga session.

The Centre for Yoga Therapy, Education and Research has launched yoga classes for faculty, staff and students of the Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute administered by Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth.

Prof. Rajaram Pagadala, University Chancellor, accompanied by Prof. N. Ananthakrishnan and Prof. Ravi Shankar, Deans, launched the programme.

Classes will be held from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. on all working days.

The MGMCRI has been in the forefront of integrating yoga in the medical curriculum as well as advancing complementary care in clinical practice. The institution also runs a one-year PG Diploma in Yoga Therapy and a two-year Master of Science in Yoga Therapy (M.Sc YT) programme from the forthcoming academic year.

Yoga consultations are part of routine healthcare as well as the master health checkups.
