Integrity is not only the responsibility of employees and organisations but is meant for the public also, said P. Daniel, Additional Secretary, Central Vigilance Commission.
In his special lecture on “Integrity – A way of Life” as part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2019 celebrations of the NLCIL, Mr. Daniel said he said functioning with integrity becomes a collective effort, also involving the public, “as the threads of integrity, transparency and accountability are knit together to uphold all public administration and, ultimately, bring about governance reforms.”
The lack of public trust destroys political stability and corruption remains the single most significant obstacle to achieving the nation’s goals, said Mr. Daniel.

Shaji John, Director (Power), in his address said the NLCIL was always striving to promote accountability, fairness, and discipline while taking administrative responsibilities.
T. Venkatasubramanian, CVO, NLCIL, said various activities organised throughout the Vigilance Awareness Week were aimed at engaging people in saying ‘no’ to corruption.
Apart from participating in the mass tree plantation programme, the official visited Sneha Opportunity School for special children, Anand Illam, (Home for Elders) and opened the integrity shop at Jawahar Matric School and addressed the schoolchildren.
