Tributes paid to freedom fighter V. Subbiah

V. Subbiah, freedom fighter and communist leader of French India in Puducherry, who was behind the implementation of the popular eight-hour-a-day system, was remembered here on Sunday. Chief Minister N. Rangasamy paid homage to the statue of Subbiah on the occasion of his 21st death anniversary on Sunday. Electricity and Education Minister T. Thiagarajan, and MLAs also paid tributes.

Leaders of the Communist Party of India (CPI) comprising national council secretary of the party, D. Raja, member of the CPI central executive committee K.Narayana, party’s Puducherry unit secretary R. Viswanathan and others paid floral tributes.
