The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of teaching and non-teaching staff of Puducherry Government Society Colleges on Wednesday announced that its members in 18 society-run colleges would indefinitely boycott their regular duties from January 18 in protest against the inordinate delay in implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, D. Ramkumar, president of Pondicherry Society for Higher Education (PONSHE) said that the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) had directed the States and the Union Territories to implement the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations and claim the 50% differential pay as grant before March 31.
But the Puducherry Government has not taken any steps to implement it for the teaching and non-teaching staff of the 18 society-run colleges.

Though the JAC had organised various protests, the Government has been silent and granted only 7% Dearness Allowance out of the pending 16% DA pertaining to the Sixth Pay Commission scale.
Mr. Ramkumar said that the staff of the society-run colleges were selectively ignored.
The JAC has resolved to boycott their regular duties from January 18 until all their demands are met by the government, he said.
