Spotted deer found dead

A spotted deer was found dead at Ramanatham near Veppur in the district on Tuesday.

Forest Department officials conducted enquiries with the locals. The two-year-old male deer had strayed into the area from the Ramanatham forest in search of water. Officials suspect the animal might have died while trying to escape stray dogs.

After a post-mortem, the carcass was buried.
