Following the directive of the Election Commission of India ahead of the general elections, special camps will be held in all polling stations of the Union Territory of Puducherry on February 23 (Saturday) and 24 (Sunday).
These camps are intended to facilitate the voters to verify their names in the electoral rolls and also to enable the left out voters to enrol their names so that they could also exercise their franchise in the Lok Sabha elections, V. Candavelou, Chief Electoral Officer, said.
The designated officers will be present in the respective polling stations along with electoral rolls.

“People are requested to utilise this opportunity to verify if their name is there in the electoral rolls. Mere possession of Electoral Photo Identity Card does not guarantee franchise unless they are enrolled in the poll roll. Hence, the EPIC holders should ensure that their name is enlisted in the electoral rolls,” the press note said.
Public cooperation will also help the Elections Department prepare error-free electoral roll.
Voters whose names have been left out may file applications seeking inclusion to the designated officer on that day itself to enrol their names in the electoral rolls. These voters should bring copies of residence/age proof, passport size colour photo and EPIC, if available in support of their claim for inclusion.

Besides, application for correction and transposition can be filed during the special camp days, the press note said.
