Senior Congressmen offer to quit

 Two senior Congress functionaries on Saturday offered to quit their posts following the party’s defeat in the Lok Sabha elections to the sole constituency on the opening day of a two-day stocktaking exercise of the Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee.

Soon after the meeting began, the party president, A.V. Subramanian and Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, V. Vaithilingam (who represents Kamaraj Nagar) were understood to have expressed their willingness to quit from their respective posts owning moral responsibility for the defeat of V. Narayanasamy.

Mr. Subramanian told

The Hindu , “We volunteered to quit the posts owning moral responsibility. It is for the high command to take a decision.”

Youth Congress members are expected to participate in the discussions on Sunday.
