Official urges girl students to report sexual harassment

The Senior Superintendent of Police (Law and Order) Apoorva Gupta on Wednesday interacted with the Vice-Chancellor of Pondichery University Gurmeet Singh to review security arrangements inside the campus.

She visited the campus and held a meeting with the Vice-Chancellor, security guards and student community.

During her interactions with girl students, the SSP said the students should not hesitate from lodging complaints on sexual harassment.

She urged them to be vigilant and informed about the protections guaranteed under various laws.

Ms. Gupta gave a detailed account of the new initiatives launched by the territorial police.

A women’s protection group would be launched soon at the university, she also added.

The SSP also visited the women’s hostel and other facilities meant for girl students inside the campus.
