Rurban Mission: Bahour, Tirunallar to get a facelift

Union Ministry of Rural Development has selected Bahour and Tirunallar for implementing various development works under Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Rurban Mission.

Rurban Mission, an ambitious programme of the Centre, was aimed to develop 300 villages as urban growth centres.

The Hindu that the mission was partly funded by Centre to develop villages into urban growth centres.

Under the scheme, various development works would be taken up at a cost of ₹116 crore in Tirunallar. Similarly, work to the tune of ₹109 crore would be taken up in Bahour. Of the total expenditure planned in both the places, ₹30 crore would come as Central Gap Funding, he said.

The district administration has planned to take up various works, including light and sound show at the Spiritual Park at Tirunallar.

“We are planning to take up development works which could attract tourists and provide livelihood means to locals,” said the Collector.
