Chief Minister N. Rangasamy brushed aside all uncertainties over inclusion of Puducherry in the list of Smart cities prepared by the Union Government.

Speaking at the inauguration of Digital India week celebrations at the Puducherry Engineering College here on Thursday, he said that unnecessary confusion has been generated and wrong information was spreading that Puducherry has been excluded from the list of Smart cities.

“I would only say that Puducherry has been definitely included in the list and it would be included in the first list of 25 cities. On the part of the Government a high-level committee has been set up to prepare the draft report for development of Puducherry into a Smart city. This would be subsequently sent to the Centre for follow up action,” he said.
