February 25, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - PUDUCHERRY:

A group of people under Indo French Senior Citizens Association on Tuesday staged a demonstration in front of the head post office here demanding that the French government confer nationality and voting rights.

The agitators led by D.J. Mounnissamy, president of the association, claimed that they were entitled to French citizenship and voting rights as their birth and nativity certificate had been registered during the French regime.

The agitators organised a mass despatch of letters to the French government.
