AIADMK leaders offer special prayers at a temple in Puducherry on Saturday.

Leaders of Puducherry All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam on Saturday conducted special prayers at a local temple for the early return of AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

Ever since Ms. Jayalalithaa was convicted and sentenced by the Special Court at Bangalore in disproportionate case, the AIADMK rank-and-file here had been staging protest and conducting special prayers for her early release from prison.

Even after her release from the prison, cadre of the AIADMK’s Puducherry unit have been continuing with special prayers in churches and temples now — this time to have her back as Chief Minister.

AIADMK Puducherry Unit secretary and Leader of Legislature Party P. Purushothaman and other MLAs — A. Anbalagan and Omsakthi Sekar — on Saturday offered special prayers at Anjaneya Swami Temple at Dharmapuri in Puducherry.

Mr. Purushothaman said, “This is eighth week we offered prayers here for our leader Ms. Jayalalithaa to become Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu again. While she was Chief Minister, she had done so many good things to people of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. If she comes back to power, she will make Tamil Nadu numero uno State in the country.”
