Officials undergo training

The Villupuram district administration on Monday conducted the second round of training for booth-level polling officers who are to be deployed for the Vikravandi Assembly constituency bypoll scheduled on October 21.

The officials were trained in handling electronic voting machines, maintaining marked copy of electoral rolls and other procedures.

Collector L. Subramanian, District Supply Officer-cum-Returning Officer M. Chandrasekhar supervised the training programme and reviewed the arrangements in Ayyur Agaram near Villupuram.

The training was aimed at informing the polling officers their role and responsibility, instructing them on how to conduct the elections as per the instructions of the Election Commission and what action needs to be taken in case of an emergency.

According to an official, necessary arrangements had been put in place to ensure smooth conduct of polls.

Facilities would be provided for people with disabilities in all polling booths in Vikravandi constituency, he said.
