NLCIL settles dues of landowners with enhanced compensation

The project-affected persons had filed an appeal for higher relief

Justice delivered: S.K. Krishnan, retired Judge, Madras High Court, handing over the cheque to a person who ceded his land to the NLCIL.

S.K. Krishnan, retired Judge of Madras High Court, handed over compensation to the tune of ₹38.41 lakh to 28 beneficiaries who had handed over their land to NLC India Ltd. for mining operations.

The beneficiaries are from Periakurichi town near Neyveli.

According to a press release from the public sector undertaking, the project affected persons had filed an appeal for higher compensation, which came up for hearing during the Lok Adalat held last month.

The Lok Adalat had announced an enhanced compensation of ₹38.41 lakh to 28 beneficiaries.

Accordingly, the enhanced amount was handed over to them, the release said.

Senior officials of NLCIL and Tamil Nadu Revenue Department were present when the beneficiaries were given the compensation, the release added.
