The much-awaited mass contact programme of Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy and his Cabinet colleagues will start from Kalapet constituency from the end of this month.
The government had chosen Kalapet constituency to start the mass contact programme, Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy told The Hindu .
“We are waiting for the Chief Secretary’s arrival from abroad. In all likelihood, the programme will be held in the last week of September,” the Chief Minister said.

Preferred venue
The Kalapet constituency, represented by Minister for Revenue M.O.H.F. Shahjahan, had been a preferred venue for the commencement of any programme, including election campaigns, due to its “geographical” position.
As per the plan, the second mass contact programme will be held in Mannadipet constituency, represented by T.P.R. Selvame of the All India N.R. Congress. The government plans to cover all the 30 constituencies within a short span.

The mass programme has been planned in such a way that the Revenue Department would make prior announcement, at least a week before, so that people could prepare to present their grievances.
Chief Minister, Ministers and officials would hear the grievances, including those related to issuance of patta, welfare pension and medical assistance.
Civic problems pertaining to drinking water, streetlights and drainage would be taken up for hearing, he said.
“We will try to solve the issues on the day itself and those issues that needed administrative scrutiny will be taken up later. It will be an occasion to listen to the grievances of public and sort out the problems through mutual consultation,” he said. The Chief Minister had announced his decision to embark on a mass contact programme after his election from Nellithope constituency.
