Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College Computer Science and Engineering students Kirubakaran N. and Vijai V. won the title of TCS-InfraMind contest with ₹2,00,000 worth cash prize.
InfraMind is the contest conducted by TCS-IT Infrastructure unit. It is a team event with four rounds to assess students in the areas of automation, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, virtualisation and networking. The overall objective of the contest is to develop a group of students who can participate and compete meaningfully in an IT infrastructure domain.
There were around 34,000 contestants registered for the second season.

The final round featuring the shortlisted ten teams involved a hackathon based on the domain chosen by the teams.
The grand finale took place at TCS-Synergy Park, Hyderabad. There were 10 teams with two teams in each domain.
The teams were from various parts of the country such as Puducherry, Surat, Haryana and Indore. Among the top 10 teams, five were from Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College, Puducherry.

Workshop on job opportunities
The Civil Department of IFET College of Engineering in Villupuram in collaboration with JK Cement organised a one-day industry sponsored workshop to provide insights about the latest trends and job opportunities in civil engineering.
R. Arunachalam, Zonal head, Technical, JK Cement Pvt Ltd, R. Sivaramakrishnan, Technical Executive and J. Arun, ASM Marketing, were the key speakers at the workshop.
In order to motivate participants, prizes are awarded to the first two toppers of the department each year. Chairman K.V. Raja, Vice-Chairman, A. Mohamed Illyas, Secretary K. Shivram Alva, Principal G. Mahendran, Vice- Principal and Dean Academics S. Matilda, Dean Placement J. Asha, Head-IFET Research Centre and P. Pugazhendiran participated.

The Department Of Mathematics at Theivanai Ammal College for Women in Villupuram conducted an invited lecture through video conferencing on the topic, ‘The Numerical Solutions and Applications to Singular Perturbation Problems’ by Dr. M. Paramasivam, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, Bishop Heber College, Tiruchi.
About 450 students participated.
