The Kallakurichi All Women Police Station on Wednesday arrested a 29-year-old man under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl. The name of the accused was given as M. Elangovan of Kalvarayan hills. He is married and father of two children.
The police said the accused sexually assaulted the girl studying Plus Two in a government school with the promise of marriage. The girl narrated the incident to her parents who lodged a complaint with the Kallakurichi All Women Police Station.
The accused was arrested and remanded in custody in the Cuddalore Central Prison.
