Puducherry and Oulgaret municipalities in contention for Swachh Survekshan 2019 award

The Local Administration Department has appealed to the public to cooperate with the Puducherry and Oulgaret municipalities to keep the town and suburban areas clean.

Addressing a joint press conference, Commissioner of the Puducherry Municipality Adarsh and Commissioner of the Oulgaret Municipality Kandasamy said both municipalities were in contention for the Swachh Survekshan 2019 award. Cooperation of the people was important for the municipalities to fetch the award, they said.

A total of 4,203 corporations and municipalities were participating in the competition, said Mr. Kandasamy.

Awards are given for sanitation facilities, overall services rendered by the civic bodies, opinion of the public and observations made by the people, he said.
