Aimed at getting one-on-one feedback from students

Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi has convened a meeting on Saturday with students who were facing hardship in gaining admission through Centac for PG medical courses.

A press note from Raj Nivas said the meeting had been called for obtaining one-on-one feedback from students given the numerous reports about aspirants facing hurdles in spite of the intervention of the Lt. Governor and the Government of Puducherry to get self-financing medical institutions to abide by norms. The interaction has been scheduled at Raj Nivas at 11.30 a.m. Students are requested to bring their ID card along with Centac admission reference.

Earlier, Ms. Bedi, whose direct intervention at the Centac counselling centre on successive days to supervise admissions revived hopes among scores of confused students of gaining their admission, stated that gross injustice was being meted out to NEET-selected students by private medical colleges.

Pointing to the lack of administrative cohesion in addressing this long-standing issue or credible grievance redress mechanism to safeguard the interests of students, Ms. Bedi said, “The Government of India and respective States must come together urgently to address this cancerous ailment once and for all. They must set up single point grievance redressal point where students can seek clarifications and direction.”
