As many as 44 candidates received offer letters at the inauguration of the two-day job fair held at the Employment Exchange on Saturday. The job fair is jointly organised by the Labour Department in association with Navayuga Consultancy.
A large number of candidates with qualifications ranging from plus two to post-graduation including in the arts and science streams attended the fair on the first day.
“The response from freshers was good and nearly 400 candidates attended the job fair,” said Anitha Raj, HR Manager of Navayuga Consultancy. The participating companies – Tata Consultancy Services (Pune) and Sutherland — were also satisfied with the quality of the candidates.

As many as 44 candidates were put through tests by the companies and were given offer letters.
“The job fair would continue on Sunday in which around 500 candidates from ITI, Arts and Science streams are expected to take part,” she said.
Lemotte Jonahriza, a diploma holder, who received a provisional offer letter from TCS, said the job fair provided better exposure for students.

Welfare Minister P. Rajavelu inaugurated the fair and called upon the job-seekers to make use of the system. The Government has been organising such job fairs in association with private players to open up avenues of employment and provide exposure for students from the Union Territory. While the Government could not provide jobs to all unemployed youth in the state, it wanted to create more employment opportunities for them. The Chief Minister had taken several steps to attract industries and provide direct employment to youth in the UT, he added.
