Rebecca Samson¸ Dean, College of Nursing, PIMS, was honoured with the National Florence Nightingale Award 2016 by President Pranab Mukherjee at a recent function hosted at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Delhi.
Participating in various ICMR projects under CHAD programmes at CMC and being a board member for The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Dr. Samson has not only received five awards from various organisations but also authored three books and 15 papers for scientific journals. Besides being an editor of two journals, she has also developed four manuals in nursing.

She is a crusader for integration of nursing services and education.
In her career spanning 39 years, she has organised several workshops and conferences at the State and national level and also contributed in developing curricula for various nursing courses.
Completing her graduate midwifery programme at Queen Victoria Hospital Adelaide, South Australia, she has been serving in various administration capacities as Deputy Dean, College of Nursing, and Deputy Director for International relations at CMC, Vellore, Director of Medical Education at Madha Memorial Educational Trust, Manamadurai, and has held various positions in many nursing institutions both in India and abroad.

She was tutor, lecturer, associate professor & professor at College of Nursing, CMC, and later internship coordinator at Sultanate of Oman, King Khalid University Hospital, Riyadh, K.S.A.
