Puducherry’s own Akash Kapur was part of the gathering of eminent authors that discussed and dissected their writings at the recent Francophone Literary Café at the Maison Colombani. Mr. Kapur discussed his book India Becoming: A portrait of life in Modern India, published in 2012.
Along with him on the dais were Francois Emmanuel from Belgium, who won the Grand Prix de la SGDL for his life’s work, Pascale Kramer from Switzerland who was also awarded the Grand Prix du roman de la SGDL in France and Hedi Kaddour from France who has received the Prix Goncourt for his nover Waltenberg in 2005.
The idea of the café is to bring together some of the best authors in order to entertain the crowds and also provide an evening of culture, one of the organisers said.

After the café in Puducherry, there will be two more in Chandigarh and New Delhi.
In addition to this, in Puducherry, there was a second literary café with Yvan Amar, journalist with Radio France. On Tuesday evening he spoke about his experiences as a journalist with the Radio.
