e-governance platform for drug licences

Come April, drug manufacturers and retail drug stores in the Union Territory will no longer have to apply manually at the Department of Drugs Control for grant and renewal of licenses.

In an effort aimed at bringing transparency and to ensure disposal of applications within timeframe, the Department of Drugs Control has decided to use e-governance platform for processing license applications through online web portalwww.xlnindia.gov.in

In a statement, V. Candavelou, secretary to Government (Health and Drugs Control) said the online process will be introduced for wholesale and retail drug stores in the Union Territory from April 1 where users can upload or download applications for grant and renewal of licenses.

The system will be first introduced for wholesale druggists and retail drug stores in the UT. License applications generated through the above portal will be accepted from April 1.
