DMK cadre staging a protest against the alleged confusion in conducting counseling and admission of students at CENTAC, in Puducherry on Wednesday

Volunteers of the Puducherry unit of the DMK staged a demonstration in front of Anna Statue here on Wednesday to register their protest over alleged confusion in conducting counselling and admission of students to professional courses under the Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC).

R. Siva, former MLA and coordinator of DMK (South) said the Government’s move to include children of the French nationals in the reservation category had created confusion among parents and students. The government is also trying to cover up the investigation into the CENTAC scam.

Mr. Siva said the Government had failed to get 50 percent of seats from private medical colleges under the government quota in any academic year. The government has only been doing lip service and colleges had been allocating seats as per their whims and fancies.

All rules are thrown to the wind and seats meant for Puducherry students are sold for a hefty price. As a result students from Puducherry have been losing around 400 seats per year, he said.
