September 20, 2014 11:57 am | Updated 11:57 am IST - PUDUCHERRY:

Puducherry’s beachfront will reverberate with pulsating beats as it hosts the first edition of the East Coast Musiq Festival on Saturday.

The festival will feature DJ Akhil Talreja from Mumbai in the lead, who will spin Bollywood and House numbers. Also performing will be DJ Bobby and DJ Shamnas from Cochin, DJ Danny from South Africa, DJ Anup Mech from Auroville and DJ Dark Hunter from Puducherry.

While DJ Anup will be playing commercial tracks, expect some Electronic Dance Music (EDM) from DJ Bobby and DJ Shamnas.

“I will be playing Progressive House and EDM. We want this first edition to be a big one. Next year, we hope to have 12 DJs on board,” said DJ Bobby.

The festival has been organised by The Global Voyage, an event management company and travel agency based in Puducherry.

“So far nobody has brought big DJs to Puducherry. We will also be taking it to other places on the East Coast including Mahabalipuram, Chennai and Visakhapatnam,” Tameez from The Global Voyage said.

“The response has been quite good. We are expecting a good crowd comprising Indians, French and also some African students from Chidambaram,” he said.

The show has already sold 150 tickets as of Friday evening and they are targeting a maximum of 300 people, he added. Organisers are also planning to bring the festival back to Puducherry in January next year.
