CM rubbishes exit poll results

Rubbishing exit poll results which showed a complete sweep by Bharatiya Janata Party in the Lok Sabha elections, Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on Tuesday said the post-poll survey was conducted with the aim of having an impact on the share market.

Participating in the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, the Chief Minister said some of the media houses have become corporates. The exit poll results are unbelievable as some of them had predicted the BJP to cross 300 seats, he said. There had been clear anger against the Central government and it would be reflected when the votes are counted, he added.

“Around 90 crore people have exercised their franchise. How can the results be predicted based on interviews with 5 to 6 lakh people,” he asked.

Asking party workers to be very vigilant in the counting centres as the BJP was “capable of tampering with the outcome,” he said.

Earlier, Chief Minister, former Speaker V. Vaithilingam, Parliamentary Secretary to the Chief Minister K. Lakshminarayanan, All India Congress Committee in-charge Sanjay Dutt garlanded the statue of Mr. Gandhi.

Later, the Chief Minister and others travelled to Sriperumbudur to pay homage at the memorial of the former Prime Minister. At the Secretariat, Chief Secretary Ashwani Kumar administered anti-terrorism pledge to officials. Secretaries, senior officials and Secretariat staff took the pledge.
