Counselling for professional degree courses (UG ) will soon begin in Puducherry with the Centralised Admission Committee (Centac) expected to announce the merit list by June 28.

Centac coordinator P.T. Rudra Goud said certificate verification had been completed. “We have to complete the first round of counselling for professional degree courses by July 5. There is no delay in announcing the merit list,” he said.

While the merit list for polytechnic would be announced on Tuesday, the last date for online application for lateral entry for B. Tech had been extended to June 30.

Mr. Goud said they would publish the merit list for Arts and Science courses by June 28 or 29.

However, Puducherry UT All Centac Students Parents Association president M. Narayanassamy said that the deemed universities had already announced the list and the last date to join was on July 2.

“Several candidates from Puducherry have been allotted seats in the deemed universities, where they have to pay exorbitant fees. If there is a delay in the announcement of Puducherry Centac merit list, the Puducherry candidates will be forced to join the deemed universities,” he said.

He said apart from the merit list, the Fee Committee was yet to announce the fee structure for the professional degree courses.

“The students from Puducherry will be benefited only when the seat sharing in the private medical institutions and fee structure was announced,” he said.
