Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on Sunday said the Union government has posted Kiran Bedi as Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory with a “deliberate plan to de-stabilise” his government.
Addressing Congress workers at a function to mark the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi here, he said Ms. Bedi worked with a systematic plan to thwart attempts of the government to provide welfare measures to the needy.
“She returns all the files related to welfare measures,” he said.

Asserting the rights of an elected government, the Chief Minister said Ms. Bedi had to accept the decisions taken by the Cabinet. “If Ms. Bedi doesn’t know the procedures, she should read the communications sent by the government to her,” Mr. Narayanasamy said.
In Puducherry, unlike in New Delhi, the elected government was the final authority on matters pertaining to police, land, revenue and general administration, he said.
Social Welfare Minister M. Kandasamy said people realised the game plan of the Lt Governor. “We were scared to go to the constituency before due to public anger. Now, people have understood the reason for our helplessness in governing. They understood the game plan of Lt. Governor. So, elected representatives can now freely move in their constituencies,” he said.

‘Ornamental dolls’
Mr. Kandasamy said Ms. Bedi’s actions had made Ministers “mere ornamental dolls.”
Coming down heavily on the Bharatiya Janata Party, he said its plan to get a leader elected from UT would not fructify any time.
On the occasion of the former Prime Minister’s birth anniversary, the Chief Minister administered the National Integration Pledge to officials and workers.
