Ban threat unite residents together

April 13, 2014 11:02 am | Updated May 21, 2016 11:02 am IST - CUDDALORE:

The threat to ban the local temple festival has brought unity between two groups and averted untoward incidents. Residents of Vaiyappanpattinam were divided over the conduct of the Sri Balamurugan temple festival. When each group decided to organize the festivities independently the revenue officials became apprehensive.

As a precautionary measure the officials announced a ban on the festival. Fearing divine wrath the residents sunk their differences and assured tashildar Rajaraman that they would hold the festival unitedly.

The tahsildar allowed them to do so after taking a written promise in this regard from both the groups.
