The CB-CID police have arrested a notorious anti-social Jana (30) in connection with the murder of Velalagan, an AINRC functionary and labour contractor, at Thirubhuvanai near here on April 19. The police have arrested seven persons for their involvement in the murder case.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of CB-CID police arrested the prime accused Jana of Kalitheerthankuppam who had been reported absconding since the murder from Chennai. Sustained interrogation by the police revealed that Jana had previous enmity with the victim Velalagan.
Udhayakumar, one of the main accused, had planned to eliminate Velalagan, and with the help of Jana committed the murder. Jana was produced before a local court and remanded to custody.
