Floral tributes paid to his portrait

Devotees pay tributes to Sri Aurobindo’s portrait on the anniversary of his arrival in Puducherry.

The 108th anniversary of Sri Aurobindo’s arrival in Puducherry was observed here on Wednesday. Organised by the World Peace Trust and Bangavani Trust, Nabadwip Dham, a large number of people and members of Sri Aurobindo Ashram paid floral tributes to the portarit of Sri Aurobindo.

“It is the 108th arrival anniversary of Sri Aurobindo in Puducherry. Starting on April 1, 1910, on a streamer Duplex from Kolkata, Sri Aurobindo arrived in Puducherry on April 4, 1910 at 4 p.m. He was received by nationalist Srinivasachari and poet and social reformer of Tamil Nadu Subramania Bharati. He was later taken to the house of Calve Shankara Chettiar, a prominent citizen of Puducherry,” said Dibyendu Goswami, convenor and Secretary of Bangavani Trust.

He added that Sri Aurobindo’s arrival anniversary is observed every year. “The celebrations start with prayer and offering, followed by meditation and music.
