The opposition DMK on Wednesday criticised Chief Minister N. Rangasamy for failing the people on several counts and said that the ruling AINRC Government would be ousted from power like the Congress in Delhi.

Leading a demonstration, former MLA and DMK convenor (North) S.P. Sivakumar said that a strong anti-incumbency wave was prevailing against the ruling AINRC and people would take the right decision and teach a fitting lesson to the AINRC.

Mr. Sivakumar said that the century old Anglo French Textiles (AFT) mills remained closed and the Government was not bothered about reopening it or about the welfare of the workers.

He alleged that the Government was conducting a study on MLAs from various political parties who were likely to win the forthcoming Assembly elections and was sending feelers to them to join the AINRC.

He said the ruling AINRC did not have candidates to contest the Rajya Sabha elections and was borrowing candidates from other parties.

Former MLA R. Siva and DMK convenor (South) said that all the promises held out by the Government to the people in the election manifesto and budgets were yet to see the light of the day.

Over 70 per cent of the industries have left Puducherry due to the Government’s wrong industrial policy.

Though the Union Territory had adequate supply of power from the central grid it was not able to ensure uninterrupted supply to all sections, said Mr. Siva.
